Shareholders

The GWDG is a joint institution of the University of Göttingen - Public Law Foundation and the Max Planck Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e.V., which thus constitute the two partners and are involved in equal parts. In 2005, the Land of Lower Saxony had transferred its share of the GWDG the Foundation University Göttingen.

The GWDG has both a supervisory board and a user representative who perceive different tasks.

The supervisory board of the GWDG has to meet the rights and duties prescribed by the legislator, in particular monitoring and advising the management.
