Handover of the new data center to the GWDG

    Today, the University of Göttingen has handed over its currently largest new building project to the future users: After a symbolic handover of the keys, the GWDG is now moving into the new joint data center for the Göttingen science location on the North Campus.     GWDG supports pilot project "BIRD" for National Education Platform

    In order to develop a federal technical infrastructure for the establishment of a digital education space, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the development of prototypes for a digital education platform as part of the Digital Education Initiative. This education platform is intended to act as a hub and to integrate education platforms and offerings nationwide via interfaces, establish common standards, and facilitate access to education in all phases of lifelong learning.     New university professorship for HPC and deputy head for HPC at the GWDG

    The GWDG has strengthened itself in the area of High-Performance Computing (HPC). Together with the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, a new W2 professorship for HPC was established last fall, which at the same time also fulfills the tasks of the deputy head at the GWDG with a focus on HPC. We are pleased that Prof. Dr. Julian Kunkel from the University of Reading in England has accepted the call to this professorship as of June 1, 2021.

    Panel discussion with the Göttingen OB candidates

    Next Monday, June 21, 2021, starting at 7:30 p.m., there will be a virtual discussion event with the candidates for the office of Lord Mayor of Göttingen. What do the candidates for the office of Lord Mayor of Göttingen think about the “City that creates knowledge”? What plans do they have for strengthening and securing Göttingen as a location for science? This is what the members of the Working Group Science/Universities and Göttingen Campus will ask the candidates and invite all interested parties to participate in the virtual discussion event.
